WMYSA History

The WMYSA started as a grass roots effort in 2006. The purpose of our organization is to provide a sailing community for youth ages 8-18 an opportunity to improve their competitive sailing skills in a higher skill environment than they may find at their home club, and as a bridge to bigger sailing opportunities within their fleet association. We offer clinics, biweekly regattas and a Green Fleet Opti Fun Day throughout the summer. The season culminates with the WMYSA Championships, where the perpetual trophy is presented to the team with the highest point total for the season. Macatawa Bay Yacht Club won this trophy in 2008 and 2009. Grand Rapids Yacht Club won it in 2010.
